Well worth a visit is the “Venice du Berry”. The historic town of Argenton-sur creuse.
In the middle ages it was protected by a huge fortress, sadly now only remains of the Heracle and “du Midi” can be seen. From the X111 century, the town was built below the fortress on the left bank of the Creuse, then from the xvth century The town spread to the right bank, connected by “The Old Bridge”.

The Lanes

Today, a very picturesque Stroll through the lanes, gleans sites of many medieval buildings.
Lining the river are the most attractive houses and two mills, the “Moulin de bord” and the “Moulin de la Varenne”.
Overlooking the town is the chapel of the “Bonne Dame”, from were you can see extensive views.

Shirt making has been an important industry in the town, so a museum dedicated to the craft was created here.
The archaeological site of Argentomagus, where you discover life from prehistoric times to the end of the Roman era.
